I’ve done some videos about dysesthesia in the hands. Now dysesthesia, also known as parasthesia, is a medical term. It refers to your hands not feeling right. Things like numbness, tingling, pins and needles, your hand falling asleep, things like that. As I’ve mentioned before, the brachial plexus comes out of the neck and comes down through the chest into the arm. Impingement of the brachial plexus is called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. There are actually four different varieties: https://youtu.be/Rk1O82EXypU
As the brachial plexus travels down the arm into the hand, it splits into three main nerves: The median nerve, the radial nerve and the ulnar nerve. Impingement of the median nerve, which innervates this part of your hand, is called carpal tunnel syndrome when it happens in the wrist. I did another video on that: https://youtu.be/dBdz6GttlrE
But there are two other nerves: the radial nerve, which innervates this part of the hand, and the ulnar nerve which innervates these two fingers and this edge of the hand. Impingement of the ulnar nerve is called Cubital Outlet Syndrome. The ulnar nerve travels through a hole in your humerus, which is this upper bone here. It travels through a notch in your ulna which is right here. If any of this gets inflamed, it impinges on the ulnar nerve. This is what leads to the funny feelings or pain in these fingers. If you’re experiencing any of this, contact me. Let’s get you to feeling better.
